School started in my province this week. I see others asking online for weaving classes. I should mention mine again as it’s been a while. The summer got kind of jammed with personal maintenance and I don’t like to always remind people of my online classes. And yet, if I don’t, people don’t know.
So, School of Sweet Georgia. I have four ‘workshops’ or ‘classes’ there. One for weaving, where I lay out all my processes, called The Intentional Weaver, I think. Then one for wet finishing, Magic in the Water. Then one on lace weaves, and the last on sectional beaming, the way I do it. I have also written a few essays for SOS, also available with your membership.
I like the format of School of Sweet Georgia, with chapters so that you can move instantly to the chapter you want to review. Or the section within that chapter. And of course, you can post questions to the discussion board, or even email me privately.
They also commissioned me to do the seminar series for them, and they are available to anyone with a current membership. So if you missed getting into the seminar series I am hosting myself this autumn, you can also access the ones I did for SOS a few years ago. Or you can wait until the new year as there was enough interest that I’m going to plan on offering them again.
There are also classes through Long Thread Media – The Efficient Weaver and Wet Finishing. They have a few different formats.
Other people also have online offerings. Jane Stafford’s On Line Guild is a ‘proper’ weaving class. She takes you right from the beginning through to more complex information. She is thorough, and many people have learned how to weave using her information. There are other sites, Handweaving Academy, which is more ‘workshop’ oriented. I hang out on Handweaving Academy and sometimes answer questions and share what I’m working on there. I’m sure there are others, but those are the ones I am most familiar with.
