This week I got very little done. Too many other things interferring with getting to the studio.
However, that said, I did finish weaving the red tow linen, the last of the mats got cut apart and serged, then inspected and repaired, and then wet finished. I pressed the mats yesterday and now have the stack of them ready for hemming.
I also pressed a shawl I ‘discovered’ in my studio and will now be sent to the craft fair along with whatever other shawls there may be, and the scarves.
Little by little.
I’m still struggling with an ‘ailing’ body. I’m not ‘sick’, as such. But my body has sustained injuries and I have issues with mobility and physical fitness.
I *think* we are finally getting to at least one root cause that can actually be fixed – some muscles have apparently atrophied which is making walking and standing difficult. However, both massage and physio therapists are indicating improvement in function/range of motion.
As for the pain? Well, my therapist tweaked the pain reprocessing treatment, and after the first ‘new’ treatment there appeared to be some temporary reduction in pain.
But all three of them hasten to assure me that all of the things I am doing will take time. How much time? Depends. (Dammit.)
I am hoping to feel a bit better tomorrow, although there are few guarantees. If I can, I will strip the old warp off the loom and see how far I can get beaming the next. I will have to do it in ‘chunks’ because it will be 24″ in the reed, and about 20 yards long. I have to bear in mind that I should not push my body but take breaks and if it takes two days? So be it.
One of the things I did while kicking the wheels is think about other people I would like to give gifts to. The green place mats went over very well – my physiotherapist said that she used them for their Thanksgiving dinner and her two daughters were very impressed and commented on the place mats wondering where their mom had gotten them. She explained that one of her clients made them. 🙂 Then we chatted a bit about table settings and how Christmas is coming (and how excited she was) and I went home thinking that maybe she needs some red ones, since she says she decorates at the beginning of December and ‘celebrates’ for the whole month.
Always nice to give things to people who truly appreciate them by actually using them.
