Yesterday I finished threading the warp and this morning I sleyed and tied it onto the apron rod. The ‘test’ treadling draft is ready but I have dentist today and massage tomorrow and I’m thinking I better not weave for a couple of days. 🙁 If I don’t feel too bad after the dentist I may test the treadling. Since the weft is a linen yarn, I want to check for pick count, decide if I’m satisfied or if I want to tweak the tie up a bit. To Be Determined.
I looked at the list of the online seminars last Sunday and realized that we are well over halfway through. Five more, including the Ask Me Anything at the end. And where I hope the participants will bring some of their textiles to show and share with the rest.
Initial preparation has been made for the next series in the new year. I hope to have everything in place as this series ends the end of November. Perhaps some people would like the series as a Christmas gift?
With things so uncertain, everywhere, I’m finding it hard to actually make plans. It’s hard to set up a class (or run a business) when you don’t know what is going to happen as the ‘norms’ get turned on their head.
But I’m also an optimist and will carry on.
Once this warp is finished, I will have to think long and hard about what is left in my stash. There is a great deal of rayon of one kind or another. But I also have stacks of scarves. There aren’t very many shawls, so perhaps I will begin with a warp meant for shawls. I just don’t like fringe twisting very much. However, I now have a place I can do that it relative comfort. And I found that listening to podcasts helped to entertain me while I counted twists for each bout. I used to fringe twist in the evening while we had the tv on, but I’m using the dining room table to build my puzzles. And I really need the distraction.
Interesting times. Yes, indeed. We are living in them…
