Had a brilliant thought at dark o’clock. No idea now what it was.
I’ve been poking around on WordPress, and it *looks* like I can add comments, and perhaps even a search bar, although I’m not sure how – yet. I will keep poking. I suspect it will need the intervention of my web wizard, currently tied up with emergency family situation. My little ‘problem’ is not a big deal, just something I would like to settle, if it can be.
Today is a continuation of yesterday, in terms of the weather. I find it difficult to complain about the rain. At least for now, there is no lightening. And that is a blessing.
Our Prime Minister keeps telling us that we can only control what we can control. And I take the message to heart. The alternative is to get into a very negative head space. And that isn’t helpful. So, I work on my attitude, focus on what I *can* do.
I had massage yesterday and it was more, grit teeth, bear down. I didn’t get here overnight – to expect that I could bounce back like it’s 1995 is delusional. But it isn’t easy to change that expectation of a ‘speedy’ recovery. Up until lately, my body has been extremely co-operative. To see it so weak and slow to recover now is upsetting and not a little depressing. However, I have to be honest and remind myself of the very dark trough I was in last winter. And that things *have* improved. Just not nearly enough. Not enough progress. Not enough mobility. Not enough flexibility. But perhaps I need to regain focus and accept that I am now on the downhill side of 75. And, given my family history, I’m already way ahead of the rest of my nearest and dearest.
I made it to the loom once today, and fully expect to go back again. I am nearly at the cut off point of this warp (about 10 yards) and I am looking forward to doing that, inspecting and repairing the green mats I’ve been waiting for, and get them wet finished. And then there will be a stack of hemming to do, again.
The rhythm of the day continues – gently, gently – and slowly, but surely, I am making my way through the yarns that I want to see go away. I have even been reading a bit more – and by reading, I don’t mean doom scrolling on the internet, but actually reading some of the books I’ve stockpiled against a rainy day.
Well, it seems now is that ‘rainy day’. I’ve recently finished Eliza Reid’s book The First Lady Next Door, and am now on The Long Exile by Melanie McGrath. I like fiction, but I also like to read ‘history’ or biographies. I’ve collected far too many books and really feel the need to start reading the ones I’ve got sitting, waiting for me to pay attention to them.
I am still distracting myself with jigsaw puzzles. Hoping that as I begin to ‘recover’ from (waves hands) all this, that I will have more energy.
There are a few things that have been on my task list for far too long, so I need to get those attended to, before I let them slide right on by, off the calendar and disappear into the mists of time.
I am looking forward to the seminars. I have one on Sept. 2 for a guild, the seminar series, and another guild presentation in October. I’ve pitched an idea to WEFT, but have not heard back, but there is no rush on that. It is giving me time to think about my proposals, how I can best address the research necessary (because I’ve offered to do the article using a new-to-me yarn). Because learning something new is a feature, not a bug.
But time marches on. If I’m going to get back to the loom this afternoon, it is time to do that. Now to see if I can activate the comments – or not. It’s not exactly intuitive and I’m not sure if it will work – or not.
Happy weaving y’all…
